My French Love Affair

My longing and loving of all things French seems to be growing by the day. It started with a glass of bubbles and has progressed to the whole beautiful bottle of Veuve Cliquot. Few things are so synonymous with the French as the signature orange labelled bottle, the Eiffel Tower and the Macaroon.

That is now my next venture - The exquisite macaroon. So simple get so complex, just like women I think.

This cake was my little tribute to Tiffany & Co, with the classic and extremely well known Tiffany blue with white ribbon.

Every girl wants to be presented with one of those boxes, one day. This one is a little cheaper though and a lot more obtainable for most!

I had the pleasure of creating an engagement cake for Catherine and Linton the other week.

Catherine came to me with her engagement invitation which had a picture of two 'Holly Hobby' type characters on the front kissing. It was absolutely gorgeous.

She wanted this picture on the top cutting cake and two tiers of cupcakes. Her colour theme was ivory, latte and purple. Very oldey worldey and classic.

Welcome to The Sweetest Fling - Cupcakes and Catering for All Occasions.

As the name suggests we do all sorts of catering for all sorts of functions. Be it a small informal get together with friends or a more corporate meeting or event we can help you turn it into a 'sweet fling'.

The company is a small family run business which was sparked by my love affair with food, particularly cakes and all things sweet and yummy. I decided to turn this passion into something that would be a little more forgiving to my waist-line and the business was born. I have always had a love affair with desserts, which at times has been pretty detrimental to my wardrobe, thus the name 'The Sweetest Fling' after my sordid love affair with cakes!

We started off in 2007 specialising in gourmet homemade cupcakes. These we sold mainly at school fetes and community events which was a fruitful venture. Three years later I still pack up all my goodies and attend fairs and events throughout Sydney's North Shore which gives me a wonderful chance to see the sheer delight on little children's faces as they take their first big bite into a sweet vanilla cupcake. Nothing can we sweeter and more gratifying for me.

When clients started asking me to not only do their cakes but also cater their entire function, I knew that it was time for my little business to start expanding. From here who knows where we will end up?? =)
